The Hedera network is an open ecosystem for anyone to build useful apps and innovate on. The Hedera concept improves on successful ecosystems pioneered by Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Anyone can build an app for the Hedera network; in the same way there is a vibrant, decentralized ecosystem of applications build on top of Bitcoin and Ethereum.
We wanted to manage multiple Hedera accounts, spend Hbars and accept Hbars, and develop interesting decentralized apps on Hedera. Unfortunately, we could not find a good Hbar wallet app that would anchor our work.
So, we decided to build one.
Hedera is a 3rd generation distributed "blockchain". Technically, it is a ledger and not a blockchain because it uses a DAG-style (Directed Acyclic Graph) algorithm so it is a graph of hashes, or hashgraph, instead of a chain.
Hedera is unique because it is governed by leading companies all over the world. Hedera's algorithm - Hashgraph - is an asynchronous Byzantine Fault Tolerant distributed consensus algorithm and the only algorithm that has a formal proof in the market. Meaning, its security can be mathematically proven.
Ok...... but so what?
All these are done without compromising its energy-efficiency and transaction speed. As users of its native currency Hbar, we enjoy blazing transaction speed and the confidence that this is backed by solid math and security.
And we enjoy the benefits of a decentralized governance structure by members that are term-limited. This means that no one corporate can dominate and monopolize Hedera's future.
